mothers day late

Mothers day was perfect. Scott read my mind (SEE, it CAN be done) and planned to take us out of town to the beach. And it was EXACTLY what we needed. Even though it was mothers day, it felt like family day. We as a family needed an escape. To leave behind work and school and family and obligations. We played and ate and smiled and talked. We didn't fight. We didn't complain. There were minimal melt-downs. It was just SUCH a good day. One that I will look back on as an all time favorite.













Henry at first wanted NOTHING to do with the beach.
He didn't want to walk on the sand. He screamed at the possibility of the water. He did not like the wind. But slowly, with my husbands patient encouragement, I watched as their silhouettes grew smaller and smaller as Henry's bravery grew larger and larger.











Soon he was playing chicken with the best of them, and it didn't take Ben and I much longer to join in the fun.
