weekend sevens

We had big plans for this weekend. Big big plans. MOST of them seemed to go down the crapper.

But guess what? We made lemonade from our spoiled lemons. And sure we ended the weekend (kicked off the week?) at the doctor with a possible broken toe(s)/foot,(whew, false alarm) but I'm getting ahead of myself.

 1. I had a yard sale with my sisters and a few friends. It's a new record people! Nothing was stolen! At least that we're aware of.

2. Our plans to see Moonrise Kingdom and have dinner with our good friends were thwarted because apparently "opening weekend" meant only in select cities. BOOOOO. And while wewerethisclose to piling in a mini-van and high tailing it to LA, it just didn't work out. Instead, a three and half hour dinner/talk fest commenced. And it was good. (our boys went to spend the night at mama2&papas house where Ben apparently fell off the high bar stool and wacked his foot really bad. He's been limping ever since and it's black and blue in a couple places, but the doctor says it's just a deep bruise, Praise the Lord!)

3. My yard sale earnings was enough to cover a big boy mattress for our littlest brother (whose boisterous personality was on the brink of breaking the converted crib/toddler bed scenario we had going on)

4. The biggest DIY we've ever accomplished for US! Sure we've made a pretty bathroom, and decorated the heck out of our boys rooms, but our room? Blah. Nothing. No molding. No wainscoting. Paint splotches here and there. No real direction or excitement. BUT. We started something. Something I dreamed up a couple months ago and is so close to being finished. Very very excited over here. And yes, I'm a tease. I'm waiting to reveal the final product until it's actually completed.

5. There was napping. Which always makes for a good weekend in my opinion.

6. Bike rides! Henry is lately obsessed with riding his bike. I adored watching him watch the world as it passed, observing everything but what was right in front of him (he gets that from his mama). Thankfully no crashes occurred, just a lot of "Henry! Heads up! HEADS UP!".

7. Celebrating our freedom, thankful for sacrifices. Thankful for a family afternoon at the pool. BBQ. Sunscreen. Lots of food. Relax Relax Relax. It was pretty swell in my book.

The end.
